SABRE Electronics Answers some Questions
I just want to thank Tim S. for answering my questions. Most companies don't actually care for their customers; however, SABRE Electronics answered all my questions. Thank again.1. A majority of hits that come to my blog is about universal remote codes. Can the SABRE electronics be programmed with universal remotes and if so, what are the available codes?
2006 Sabre products do have codes, but unfortunately, the codes are not in most existing universal remotes. Each universal remote comes with an embedded code library. Being a new and exclusive brand for the military, Sabre codes are not part of most code libraries. The Sabre products do work with Learning Remotes that can be programmed to “learn” codes.
For all of the new models coming out this summer, we do have codes that will work with universal remotes. We have mimicked traditional brand codes to provide a quick solution for our customers.
2. I've read that the SABRE electronics don't work well with other electronics; specifically, the LCD and plasma televisions. Does your company already know about this problem or do you think it's just a small sampling of people on the internet?
I reviewed your blog and assume that you are referring to the customer who was having difficulty receiving a signal from his DVD player. Without knowing all of the details, it is difficult for us to speculate what the problem was.
Over 95% of performance problems are usually related to connectivity or source. I encourage any customer experiencing problems to contact our customer service department (877-241-6398 or support@SabreCE.com ). If we can’t diagnose and correct over the phone, we will send a service technician to their house or send a replacement unit.
We stand firmly behind our product, and do what it takes to correct any problems. Our warranty is one of the best in the industry, 12 months parts/labor and in home service on TV 32’’ or larger.
3. I bought the lowest model DVD player and I've problems with specific DVD's. I've tried these DVD's on more than one or two other players and they have worked fine. Is there any known problem DVD's that customers should be aware of?
Again, I am hesitant to speculate without knowing all of the details. We test the products with the latest released DVDs along with multiple recorded discs and various regional discs. Please provide a list of the DVDs that aren’t working and we’ll swap you with new ones that we’ve tested and use yours to determine if there is an error in your unit’s software.
Last year we delivered over 50K DVD players for AAFES. Our current returned defect rate is still below 1%, 2.5% below industry average.
4. I really do appreciate your company coming out with inexpensive electronics. The second largest financial problems with 18 - 26 years olds that I see is discretionary electronics. So the SABRE electronics are really nice; however, if the inexpensive part is actually just cheap products, then I think it's not really helping anything. What is your opinion?
We agree with you completely! I want to begin by saying that we have the best customers in the industry and we take our commitment to the military very seriously. We constantly strive to deliver the best quality product at the most competitive price.
To give you one example of quality, our Plasmas are built with LG plasma panels, Pixelworks & Texas Instruments processing chips and Philips tuners (same components as many traditional brands).
We are also custom building product to meet the Military Customers needs. This year all of the TVs are coming standard with a complete multi-system tuner solution. If our customer buys a TV at Fort Hood Exchange and is transferred overseas, they will be able to plug in their signal source and receive a picture without any additional signal switching box. The system includes ATSC/NTSC, Seacam and Pal. In addition, all Sabre products are auto sensing multi-voltage.
I thank you for this opportunity to address our customers’ questions, comments and concerns. Our Customer Service Department is open 8am-6pm CST and we can always be reached at support@sabrece.com.

You talk about having codes but you dont list them how do we go about getting codes for universal remotes for the Sabre LCD TV. The model I have is the LCT260BKA
I picked-up a Sabre 42" plasma... Wow, I am happy that the sceen is an LG, though I thought it may even be a Samsung. I am pleased, thus far. Oh, a remote issue... I was able to use a different product line to control the Plasma screen. I used a DVD mfg code. The funny thing is, I can't get my uni-remote to use a DVD code for a TV! Let me make this clear, a DVD mfg code to control a TV. 559 seems to work... but every mfg's codes are different. Good luck!
I bought a 47" LCD from Sabre in February. Almost immediately we had probelems where the TV would not power up unless unplugged and replugged. Sabre were relatively efficient with getting someone to our house. The repairman said we needed a new power supply and ordered it. It has been sitting at our house for weeks and have asked Sabre via email and repeated phonecalls (where we cannot speak to a human being - only leave a message) to have it installed. Nobody has replied either via email or phone. Have they gone bankrupt (the Hickam AAFES has no more Sabre TVs etc) or are they just ignoring me and hoping I will go away?
Does Sabre even exist anymore? I have tried calling their "toll-free" number for days and it is always busy. I sent an email to tech support with a read-receipt, and no one has even read it. All I need is a replacement remote for the one that has NEVER worked. This may be why several PX/BX stores won't carry their electronics anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Everyone. I just made a post on October 8th, 2008. SABRE has gone out of business. I'm sorry.
Going back to #3. Of course, the return rate was a low 1% on their DVD players because Sabre, when it still existed, issued notice AAFES-wide that they were not going to accept return authorizations for defective units unless a store had X-amount for returns. Stores were writing them off instead then destroying them. AAFES lost a lot of money thanks to Sabre's bullcrap rule on returns.
Glen In Hawaii, if you're still sitting on that set LCT47 talk with the department manager or store manager for them to poll other stores for stock. My store at MacDill AFB had 20something of them last month collecting dust in the warehouse. I'm sure there's still some left that they could possibly transfer.
anonymous, no, Sabre went under. No more Sabre. End of story. This wasn't an excuse for AAFES to promote their "Keep It New" program. Because Sabre went to Hell, AAFES URGES its customers interested in buying the remaining stock to buy the extend warranties so IF IN CASE something happened to their Sabre product and it was not fixable the "Keep It New" company will reimburse the customer the full amount paid for the item. With the 47 inch being cut down to $999 the one year plan is $39.99 and the three year plan is $99.99.

So what are those of us supposed to do that have issues with our TVs that are still considered " under factory warranty" since I just bought my TV in July?
I purchased my Sabre TV at Ft. Benning's AAFES in March. I think mine is an easy fix, just don't know who to ask. The mute is not on, but there is no volume at all. I don't have my tv info with me. I think someone turned something off. Someone please help me. I do not want to buy another tv because Sabre went out of business, unless I can get my money back. vetra25@yahoo.com
A while back ago I bought a 47" TV LCT47PBKA. Recently my remote went sour and I can't find a universal remote that has a code for it. If any one does by some chance have a universal remote that works for them, could you please send me the info. Thank you!!
I bought a 47" LCD. Bottom line, it sucked!! Connectors do not work. the remote didn't work and it doesn't like to turn on. My BX is awesome and I am taking it back Friday and buying a Sharp or JVC.
I have a SBRE DVD. It just stopped working. It tried to load a disk and says bad disc. Please help. I tried the number listed for customer support, busy. Emailing the emaila addresses in this blog are only a failure notice. Who can I call?
I have a Sabre Model # LCT320BKA. Tv. HAd it for about 4 years, really didn"t have any problems, except can"t turn the t.v on with the remote, I have to turn it on manually, but I can turn it off with it.(hmmm). Anyway, we had a power outage last night and now the t.v. does not come on. Tryed to call the customer service number877-241-6398, but it is not in service. Trying to figure out is there a fuse that is involved before I call an expensive repairman out.
