SABRE Electronics at your AAFES

So everyone has noticed that there are SABRE electronics at your AAFES now. You may also have noticed that the equipment is deeply discounted compared to other similar models. Anytime you are looking at something that is a lot cheaper then everything else, you should be happy and worried. I can't find a lot of information on the internet about the items and the largest amounts of hits that come to my site are about SABRE questions. I'm hoping to get as many reviews as I can about these items. Let me know your opinions. Here is a list of the items that are currently available.

PDT423BKA - 42" HD Plasma Monitor
PDT425BKA - 42" HD Plasma TV
LCT320BKA - 32" HD LD TV
LCT260BKA - 26" LCD TV
LCT200BKA - 20" LCD TV
DVH300BKA - HDMI DVD Player
DVH200BKA - Progressive DVD Player

I bought the DVH200BKA DVD player and here is an example of my review.

Hi, I recently bought the DVH200BKA DVD player for only $29.99. It's a bare bones DVD player. I've noticed that the remote has a real short operational distance. Also, I can tell by the hundreds of hits on my site that the remote does not work with universal remotes. Everyone is searching for codes and I haven't read anywhere about the DVD player working with universal remotes. Also, at my six month mark, I've noticed a considerable amount of problems with the playing of DVD's. Sometimes, the DVD player will lock up and I have to restart my DVD. The player refuses to play one of the "Baby Einstein" DVD's also. I give this DVD player a "Don't Buy" rating.

I purchased the PDT425BKA - 42" HD Plasma TV. On the first night the composite 1 input from my dvd player started intermittently failing and displaying a no signal message on screen. In order to give the TV the benefit of the doubt I purchased component cables and the error went away. Or so I thought. 5 days later the problem came back. The sales rep said that it was probably a problem with the dvd player. Ok my dvd player is a Toshiba and 7 years old so I borrowed a friends which was a year old. I worked for 2 days. My PS2 doesn't even try to display. Since this was all within 2 weeks of having purchased it I went ahead and returned it back to the BX. As I was leaving the rep said that he had just received a phone call from another buyer who was returning his due to TV only displaying black and white and not full color on his video inputs. If I would've known that the Sabres were "AAFES exclusive" I would've left it "AAFES exclusive" and not purchased one. I'm picking up a Hitachi instead. Good luck and becareful!

Money for Military,

I'd like to address Anonymous concern about his TV turning off when he uses his cable remote. I should preface that I work for Sabre and check your site occasionally to track any customer concerns.

I noticed you referenced our responses to your earlier questions for Anonymous problem. In actuality, this problem has surfaced in a few geographic areas primarily with Cox and/or Time Warner Customers.

There is no defect with the TV. What occurs is an infrared conflict. The same signal (code) your cable remote uses to channel up is the same code our TV uses to power down.

Please contact our customer service team, 877-241-6398, and we will arrange a technician to come to your home and do a chip replacement that won’t conflict with your cable remote. The process takes less than 30 minutes and we have a 100% success rate.

We encourage all of our customers to call us if they have any concerns or just need help setting up their new products.

Thank you,

Tim S.

I am not going to create a google account so I will just let you know my "handle" will be "EUCT". I just bought the 32" LCD only because none of the JVCs have VGA inputs (Lots of DVDs and videos are on my PC). the display was not the best looking but for the price i did not care, my current CRT TV is about to die on me. I will not be installing it until Christmas morning (a gift to the family from Santa). once connected I will give some feedback. I will create a shortcut to this site and post my input on the Sabre TV. FYI, I am an AAFES employee however since I am not in retail, I am not the least bit biased, but I highly doubt AAFES would go into cohoots with a bad company. their image rides on a good experience and since AAFES belongs to the department of defence, too much rank will put the pressure on AAFES to do the right thing.

EUCT:
I asked Sabre the following:

I just bought one for x-mas for the family and won't install it till x-mas eve.
I would like to use my computer to watch movies instead of my DVD player since all my DVD players never seem to last long, but my DVD drives do and are cheaper to replace.

do you foresee a problem connecting the TV via VGA cable (about 6ft long, OEM cable)?
I know for some TVs the resolution on the PC should be changed for 1024 x 768 60Hz.
Do you folks have a recommended setting?
Also, I might buy the Sabre DVD player with HDMI if it is region free (I live in Japan and rent on base and downtown regularly and I made my PC and my current DVD [LG] player region free.) since I know that HDMI is supposedly better than VGA.

one last question. should I upgrade my video card to DVI, will I lose any quality with a DVI to HDMI cable?

Their Response:

Thank you for contacting Sabre Customer Support. You should not have any problems while connecting your PC to the TV via VGA cables. The resolution settings are dictated by what your computer’s video card can support. You should have no problem running the highest resolution on your video card with your Sabre TV.

Sabre DVD players are region-free, so you can take them anywhere without any hassle. Unfortunately, I do not have answer for your question regarding DVI-to-HDMI cables.

Hopefully this answered most of your questions, if there is anything else I can do for you please let me know.

Sincerely,

Tony K

I recently purchased a Sabre 32" HDTV as a christmas present for my daughter so it wont be opened for another week. I purchased it because it was on sale for 599.99 and the TV (a name brand) that I originally wanted to purchase was out of stock. I could'nt find any customer reviews or comments on this product until I came across this link, but some of the comments I have just read are not promising! I will reserve judgement on the TV until after Christmas. I really hope I have'nt made a huge mistake! One would not think that a product sold exclusively at AAFES would be sub standard.

Ufff,
I bought 4 Sabre DVH301BKA HDMI DVD, one after the other none worked!!!, The blue screen comes out with the SABRE logo but it just keeps on rolling down. By now you woud think I would have given up but I kept going back to exchange them to see if the next would work as advertized. Im taking this one back tomorrow and I'll make them test out the rest they have there because so far is a Scam. Yes it is cheap, but a lot of quality is being compromised here.

so far no gripes except that maybe a glossy screen version should come out. Those kinds look so much clearer, like on the Sonys.

I just bought the 42" Plasma on sale. This thing stopped me in my tracks because it was only $699. It so far looks great in my living room. I am still a little nervous with some of the bad blogs but from what I can tell, there are only a few blogs whether good or bad which really makes decisions hard. I also tried to bring up the SABRE website and it is down. Recommendation for the SABRE employee: Most military members are really appreciative to our supporters. You clarified some of the outstanding products that your electronics are made with (i.e. LG) but without a website, there is nowhere to go for a centralized communication with your company. We obviously are in the computer age as we are sitting here bloggig and some of us might be more apt to surf the internet for hours than talk to somebody on the phone. It's all about the customer service and sometimes saying you have good service isn't enough. You need a sight to view products, file complaints, cover warantys, pull users guides, and find remote codes. Something to validate you exist and are not a fly by night company. Anyway love the TV.

Picked up a 42" plasma DISPLAY (no-tuner ed.). I didn't realize it until hookup time and, well, I was bummed. I have a SAT box (non0HD) and use the S-VIDEO in. Works GREAT! Way better than ANY LCD's even the 120hz albeit my display is a 720p and not 1080p. B4 buying this screen, I was using my 22" lcd monitor and hated the noise. I had to use a low res 400x300) just to see the picture. Well, I've been looking at many LCDs and Plasmas $900-2400 and I must say, I was not happy with any. The new Sonys and Samsungs are the BEST for 1080p (HD-DVD or Blu-ray ONLY)... but has anyone seem a broadcast, cable, or SAT on them? Noisey. Nevermind the ghosting too, yes, still there, but getting better - at $2400-3000! Ouch. This is my fisrt Sabre product, and frankly, if it looks as good as this in one year from now I will be happy to buy another. The way I see it, I could spend $1400-2000 now, and still only have the one year's worth of warranty or pay $700 for the same deal. If my $700 screen dies I still would have saved $700- $1000 that I would have applied to the next screen. As we all know, prices seem to half every year, and technology doubles in the same amount of time. So the $ saved can be applied to a newer and more featured model the next year.

Ok, to the review. I really love the display, SAT tv is great, the component DVD 480p is awesome. True blacks and NO blurring. StarWarsIII rocks! Even with all windows open and sunlight pooring in! I would love to see 720p... Have to wait until HD-DVD drops to sweet $100 range.

Connections... oh my. "Dear Sabre mfg, WHY did you design plugs on the BOTTOM, and no labels when viewed from the back of the screen? To plug anything in requires two people, one to hold/tilt the (heavy 60-70lbs) screen and another to plug in a cable." Here's another one. "Dear Sabre mfg., why is there a composite AND an S-VIDEO button on the remote when BOTH are using the same "port." I'd love to have a composite AND an S-VIDEO to work so I can dual-tune PiP, instead of PiP only with component video. Have I said the screen looks GREAT! Just want to make sure. The speakers are fair to good. There is a slight humming as soon as the volume goes from 0 to 1. No big deal because an $150 5.1 sound system will take care of that!

Thank you all for this blog. It is pretty scary when google and other search engines do not know what Sabre is...

I was on my way to another store to buy a $500 32" LCD and Ii stopped by the Exchange for cables. The Sabre 42" PLASMA was right there at the entrance and my plans changed. There were four there, and within 23 hours, all were gone, even the display model. May those other guys are having problems... Did I say my screen looks AWESOME?

Bottom line, there are numerous areas I can make recommendations to improve the display. However, the single most important (for me) is the quality of the display.

This screen was in between a 42" Sony "floating glass" 120Hz and some other high brand LCD. There was no contest. Too much detail, clarity, and motion blur with the other screens. Not so with the Sabre plasma. I gues it's not fair to compare plasma against lcd...

If you want an inexpensive GREAT screen, look no furthur. I recommend it (for now, it's only been one week...).

It is my mission to let as many military site know as I can about the low quality of SABRE products. We purchased our 36in TV and our DVD player and the next day I tried to remove the Audio Cord that came with the tv and the prong came off inside the TV I tried the Yellow same as Red and White as well. Now I am sorry but this is a faulty cord that SABRE will not fix or replace my TV and have said it was USER ERROR. And that I have to fix it myself by removing the back of the TV therefore VOIDING My warranty. What is the benefit of purchasing a lower cost product that is HORRIBLE???? If they could just admit the cord was bad and fit the plugs they could show they were a reputable company. I feel maybe they are taking advantage of the AFFES and the Military families that shop there.

I purchased the 32" LCD tv in Dec of '06. I can say that it has worked great, until just recently. It takes roughly 5 minutes for the tv picture to turn(possible power supply problem) on AND the speakers decided to stop working(possible internal wiring problem). Sound won't even come out when I hook up the audio out connections on the bottom of the tv to a seperated receiver. I was told to check and make sure the tv was not muted first of all and then check and make sure the receiver is not muted. Yea, uh, done that! I was even told to change the cables. They were good. I was told to do this by a tv repairman who was guessing but had heard of this problem with Sabre tv's more than once. And to think the warranty is limited and only lasts for 12 months. These are supposed to be very high quality electonic components but it seems to me and everyone else that the quality needs to be improved. I didn't pay $2,000 for this tv but I guess you get what you pay for.

5:21 AM
Blogger Tanita said...

I believe it is true that you get what you pay for, but that's still no excuse for putting out such a poor quality product. I am thoroughly disgusted with the 32" Sabre HD LCD television. My husband purchased the original set for Christmas '06. The picture completely went out 9 months later. Sabre sent a technician out to take a look at it (They do seem to have pretty good customer service). The technician determined that the tv couldn't be fixed, so Sabre sent me a new one. Now, 6 months later, the picture is going out on the replacement tv. Can you say "Crap"?

4:17 AM
Anonymous xps_01701@yahoo.com said...

It is not uncommon to have replacement units being a referb'ed item. It saves the companies lots of $, at our expense.

My plasma is still working great. Yes, it operates with SOME nuances... but I am happy with the price paid and that it still works. By simple math, I will still be WAY ahead finacially if this monitor lasts 7-12 months versus a $2000-$4000 monitor that lasts 12-24 months. Most warrenties are only good for 1 yr, unless you opt for the 10-20% additional. WE all know that in a years' time, products get better, and you get more for the same price. Notice I didn't say CHEAPER. If you add inflation into the mix then yes, it can be cheaper. Albeit, $700-$1000 every year does provide better viewing experiences than $2k-$4 now, and more later. I just feel bad for all the green peace folks...

EUCT Says:
well, right now the only thing wrong is that when using the VGA input, the power button only turns off the TV (32" LCD) sometimes. I think it has something to do with the communication between the TV and the PC. Also, the Audio coming from my computer to the TV is VERY low. I have all settings maxed on the PC and I still have to rasie the volume to 100 to hear it well.
I can't wait to get a decent DVD player with HDMI and see how that works.
BTW, using a VGA connection with a good quality DVD is unbeleivable.

Sabre Response to Customer Concerns and Questions

I always like to preface that I’m an employee of Sabre here to address the questions and concerns of our military customers. I haven’t checked the site for a while so I hope my responses are still relevant.

I’ll start at the top and work my way down.

Boriskain: Taking the time to return 4 DVD players is surely frustrating! However, the problem wasn’t a defect, but rather a setting on the unit that allows you to watch DVDs in PAL format. Press set-up on the remote, scroll down to video and change the PAL setting to NTSC. This should correct any rolling in the screen. Sabre, being a global product, occasionally can create confusion with multiple formats.

Anonymous: (Website) we recently updated the website with new products that could have been the reason for the problem. www.SabreCE.com is up and running with all of the information you requested. The website address is on the back of all Sabre products for your convenience.

xps_10701: Thanks for the great review! We’re very pleased you’re enjoying the monitor. We put the connections facing the bottom for wall mounting options. If the connections were off the back, like older CRTs, the unit wouldn’t lie flush to the wall and any future connections would require removing the unit from the wall. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Your second question regarding Picture in Picture (PiP). There are 2 groups for PiP viewing; Group1 (composite, S-video, VGA and Coax) and Group 2 (component and HDMI). To view two signals you would need to choose one connection from each group. This is necessary for analogue and digital tuning.

Anonymous: (Remote Codes) See earlier response. All 2007 models have universal remote capabilities.

Carrie: This is a frustrating situation. The type of problem you describe would not be considered a manufacturer’s defect as described under the warranty. Whether you bought a Sabre or a Sony, the response would be the same. I assume the TV is still functioning properly without the composite connection. There are 3 additional analogue options on the unit that you could still use. We’d be happy to send you a connection cable, free of charge, that would be compatible with the unit you are using.

Anonymous (Audio): It’s impossible to diagnose the problems without having the unit in hand. If you have an external speaker system (i.e. surround system) you will always have better quality audio connecting the system directly to the source (cable/satellite box, DVD) vs. the actual the TV.
Tanita: Please contact the Customer Service team, 877-241-6398, to determine what is happening with the unit. How is the picture “going out”? There could be multiple solutions for this issue.

As always we encourage our customers to contact our Customer Service department with any concerns. 95% can be corrected over the phone. As the technology becomes more and more complicated, problems will occur. However, we stand by our product and work diligently to reasonably satisfy all customers.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond.

Sincerely,

Tim S.

EUCT Says:
Well, now I seem to have a different problem. My wife noticed it a while ago, but I chalked it up to her being "technologically challenged". However, it happened to me whether using my PC or my DVD player (neither HDMI nor DVI). On occasion, the sound will not come on and one time I paused a show, when starting it back up the sound was gone. I found a fix though, turn off the PC and then turn it on. At worst, it took turning the unit off three times to get the sound back. This proves that the issue is with the unit. I am not totally put off by it yet, but when I am, I will be sure to bring it back to the BX to get it fixed.
BTW, the damage cage folks tell me that JVC TVs has more returns than the Sabre TVs, that says a lot right there, but in Japan they offer full lifetime warranties to members stationed only in Japan....that may be why they are not afraid to bring the TVs in.
Either way, my next TV will be a Sharp Aquos

While watching movies on my PC the screen starts rolling and gets all digitized. I thought maybe I had a bad copy and then ignored it...then I started watching videos on my DVD player and it did the save thing. What the heck is going on here? now I just found out that i might not have a TV for 2 weeks if I take it in for servicing. Shoulda bought a Sharp or Sony?

We bought a Sabre 32" LCD TV about a year ago. The picture is now horrible! There are vertical lines across the screen, black wavy haze runs across the screen, and the whole picture has bright blotches all over. We are extremely disappointed and angry. Even though the price is lower for military, its still expensive & should last more than a year! I would steer clear of this brand.

spoke too soon I guess:
about one month ago the TV was "fixed". Then just recently we started having problems again.
remote only works for about 3 seconds after turning the TV on, then it is useless. (this is not a permanent problem but highly noticable if not already turning on the TV with TV1 as the first source.)
especially if I am trying to get from s-video input source to TV1.
I replaced the batteries twice and have confirmed it is not a remote problem. using the side buttons is no problem but due to the configuration of our entertainment center, not easily done without moving the TV everytime to access the side panel.
Also, volume difference is drastic between level 6 and 7. it is the biggest jump between all the other levels and makes it difficult to watch TV at night at a comfortable volume.

Here is the fix for the 42in Plasma Monitor. I am going to send in an e-mail stressing that I don't agree that we have to pay half of the parts and labor and hopefully you will do the same!

Thank you for contacting Sabre Customer Support. The problem you're
describing is called "IR" interference between the remote you're using and a
controller chip in the TV. We have identified this problem through a
handful of previous cases we've diagnosed. It is a very isolated problem
that happens only through the combination of a few select cable boxes
(usually boxes distributed underneath the Comcast umbrella of cable
companies, Comcast, Cox, Time Warner, and almost exclusively the ones
available in FL, TX and HI, although there have been scattered instances
elsewhere) and only the models PDT423BKA and PDT425BKA 42" Plasma HDTVs.

There are two methods to combat this problem. The first is a "quick-fix" to
use until the second more permanent fix is made.

1. When using the remote from your cable box, point it to the side (left or
right) instead of at the TV. Generally the cable box is much more sensitive
than the chip (inside the TV that's causing the conflict), and by pointing
your remote a different direction, the channels can be selected and changed
normally without any interference.

2. The second, permanent fix is called a firmware upgrade, which will need
to be performed on your TV. A chip needs to be replaced, which will be sent
to your residence via USPS Priority Mail. While the chip is being sent, a
service ticket will be opened and a technician will be assigned. The
technician will call you to set up an appointment to replace the chip. The
actual chip replacement takes about five minutes, but then it needs to be
tested, resulting in usually a half hour on "on-site" time.

Because this is a conflict between the TV and the cable box and not a
defect, this is not covered under the warranty. However, if you are within
the 12-month warranty period we will cover half the cost of parts and labor.
If you would like to have the chip replaced, please reply with the following

I bought a Sabre LCT200BKA in Dec 06, I thought that it was the best thing since sliced bread. I connected my computer and X-box 360 to it worked like a champ picture was beautiful, in June 08 it started having problems it started turning it self off (staying 3-5 seconds each time). I called Sabre tech support and explained the situation. I was told that it was to costly to fix and that I should add $100 to the cost I would have to pay to get it repaired, thanks for calling. I don't think I will be buying from them ever again, if you want my opinion spend the extra money for a Vizio I know the color is orange but you can adjust that you can't adjust a crappy tv.

I am not your average customer. I am intelligent and educated when it comes to electronics. so when Sbre gave me a list of things that could be causing interference, I had to call BS on some of them.
Wireless devices are not the major source of remote control issues, most frequencies are way off. Also, the whole flourescent light thing....you should be able to notice that the remote would at least work better in the dark....but wait...it doesn't. another BS moment.
now, there is one thing that Sabre failed to mentioned that is VERY likely. the frequency coming out of the very LCD screen you are trying to control during the 10-30 minute warm up time can actually have an affect. don't beleive me? I tested the theory and found that just waiting 10 minutes to use the remote can me full control over the TV instead of intermediate control. I have read this affects many companies using lower refresh rates. the new 120Htz refresh rate TVs for some reason do not have this issue...as far as I know.
I am just dealing with it....my next TV will be the Sharp Aquos. this one will go into the bedroom them.

Bought SABRE Tv at the PX a little over a year ago. Took it home within a week the picture made a POP and the tv wouldn't work. Took it back to the PX they replaced it with a new one. I registered the item online as per the card inside the box, and hooked it up. Worked great until a couple weeks ago. I was watching the tv and it shut off and now when I try to turn it on the green light come on but no picture or sound just a black screen with a little green light on the bottom. Called SABRE and they wont fix it because they say I didn't register the tv, yet I have the registration information and all. They told me it should not have let me register "online". so here I am stuck with a TV that won't work and now have to go out and by another one. YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT WILL NOT BE A SABRE.

Well I have had my 32" sabre for a little over a year and a half now and have had a few issues with it. First was around six months, it started to display vertical green lines across the entire tv. It was under warrenty so Sabre sent a tech out to fix it no prob. Just after 12 months past it started to turn white backgronds to ether blue or purple im am unsure what causes this but it is a pain in the a** to watch. BUYERS USE CAUTION. YOU PAY FOR A CHEAP TV YOU GET A CHEAP TV!

The Sabre company is a rip off and they have used AAFES to be their middle man. All I can say is that the customer support is no help. It seem like they have one rep working name "Tony". I brought the 42" plasm and after one year with probably 6 months of use it stopped working. The warranty had expired and they still wanted the receipt. It has been over 6 months and still no help. The help desk gave me a local company who did not work on this brand. At this point I will not promote this name brand to anyone. The company might suggest that they are there to assist, but they are not. I've been trying to get my TV fixed since the beginning of the year and this weekend, it will be sitting by the curb. I will be purchasing a new TV this weekend and you best believe that it will not be a SABRE. I wouldn't own another one if it was free. For those who own one that doesn't work, open it up and sell the parts. You may not be able to recoup the money you paid for it, but you will recoup the money that it's worth.

SABRE is the biggest POS I have ever seen. I can't believe AAFES is screwing us this crap product. "Special for the military buyers"

Thanks but no thanks you engineering wizards. Try making pencil sharpeners instead of DVD players and plasma TVs.

Bought a 32" and after two months of very limited use the remote would not function. Changed batteries in the remote and nothing. Went to get a universal remote and it would not work. Found out that universals can't work with this unit. The picture is okay but what a hassle without the remote. What a great buy-- I knew at the time of purchase that it was to good to be true. I do not recommend the SABRE. You get what you pay for and it was a rip-off. I emailed the company and received no response. That was 4 months ago...........Jim Mininger

I am looking for a contact number or email for sabre - I have a 37" LCD TV that is not working - I have only had this tv for 8 months - I can't give info from the px or anyone from Sabre - the tv repairman could not fix the problem because he had no information on Sabre - this is really bad business

I bought a 37" lcd Sabre TV in Jul 07, it stopped working completely around Mar. 08. Sabre sent a repairman to replace power board in Jul 08. This month, the TV has start to cut off while watching it and it's just a matter of time before it stop working completely as before. I tried to contact Sabre at 877-241-6398 but that number no longer works. If someone has a contact number, please provide. I will never buy another product from this company.

Twenty-two months ago I purchased the LCT 320BKA and was happy enough with the product until this morning when it would not turn on. Fortunately, I had also purchased the three year extended waranty. A call to the service provider (also an AAFES product) reveals that a shiping carton will be sent to me so I can pack up the TV and return it a service center somewhere in the ether.
Then I await their determination as to the repair, replace or refund satus of my TV. The saga is at a stand-still at this time -

But i am so glad i talked to a friend who told me to google the sabre name and found this blog. I'm very sorry for the disconfort this brand has brought to all my fellow soldiers.........

We bought a 37in Sabre TV earlier this year, and so far had no problems. But now we also bought a new DVD player with HDMI, and when connected, we get picture, but no sound. It's not the DVD player or the cable, as we talked to their company and exchanged the cable once. How do you contact Sabre? Neither the website nor the phone number provided in the manual exist. We're still under warranty. Does that company still exist??

Like the rest of you. We got the 301bka dvd player, hooked it to the modem and tried to get it to work.
It is running, but we couldn't get it to come through on the t.v. It said something about a code, but we couldn't find where to get it. Any help out there for a widow?

I purchased the Sabre PDT425BKA 42"
HD Plasma 2 years ago at the base exchange because of the sales rep's
knowledge of the product and more importantly the price for the quality. I have not had any problems with my set and would not hesitate to buy another one. The only drawback is not knowing the television code in order to program the remotes of the accessories, has anyone been able to find a number for customer service?

Well, we got in contact with AAFES, and the Sabre company went out of business. Great. So that's why the number and website don't exist. The AAFES person said they'd have to look into what to do about our warranty, but of course we haven't heard anything back yet.

I purchased a Sabre 47" LCD TV almost a year ago and it no longer works. I purchased the extended warranty and was told to call the manufacturer. The website and customer service number is no longer in service, it seems like the company just went out of business and now I have a $2000 tv that wont work. Has anyone been able to get Sabre customer service?

To Anonymous: AAFES has contacted us and told us that they will honor the warranty and either refund the money or, if you want to, exchange the tv for the exact same model (if they still sell it). So, all you have to do is take it back to the PX and get your money back.

Got a 20" LCT200BKA that has got the WORST picture I have ever seen. Of course it is no longer under guarantee. I have it hooked up to my computer as a monitor and the words on the screen are very very hard to read. I have adjusted the display settings in Windows and on my ATI video card. You can see the black lines surrounding every pixel. Also, there was a problem with the power card. The TV would not turn on. The light went to green and then to orange then red. Looked around inside and found that a capacitor had blown.
Not very happy with the quality of this LCD TV but it was free.

To all the military personnel that have non working sabre plasma or lcd tvs.... I have been repairing lcd and plasma tvs since they came into existence. I am sorry that this company ripped you all off and then went out of business. If you need your tv repaired and are in or near the Fort Campbell area then please call 270-605-4840. I know the parts are no longer available but that doesn't mean that the part cannot be repaired.
Im an old school tech that is not strictly remove and replace, no good technician is. Good luck all.

I bought my Sabre 42" w/tuner in Dec 06. It has been a fantastic HDTV for me, true to its plasma heritage the pictures are bright, no picture lag like LCDs, and watching DVDs are a treat.

Its on about 5 hours a day and has no problems. Yes, I'm in the military and I did find it in a PX and I researched its "guts" and found that its parts come from trusted sources (ie. LG, Texas Instruments, etc).

I would buy another one, but I understand that the company is out of business.

Purchased Sabre 42" LCD approx. 2 to 3 years ago. Screen just went black. The green light is on but no pic/sound. Should have known something was not good about this TV when I was unable to program a universal remote for it, because the name wasn't listed. Will never buy another off brand TV, especially one named Sabre.

Thanks,
